Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has revealed the BJP government's groundbreaking initiative to transform India's electoral landscape through the introduction of a 'one nation, one poll' Bill, potentially marking a watershed moment in the country's democratic process.
Revolutionary Electoral Reform on the Horizon
During his address at a rally in Bilaspur, Yamunanagar district, Singh outlined the pressing need for electoral reform. He pointed to Haryana's current situation, where Assembly polls are being held just four months after the Lok Sabha elections, as an example of administrative inefficiency. "Our government machinery remains perpetually engaged in election duties, diverting attention from crucial development work," Singh explained, emphasizing how synchronized elections could streamline governance.
Addressing Military Reforms and Opposition Claims
At a separate gathering in Pehowa, Kurukshetra, the Defence Minister tackled criticism of the Agniveer scheme head-on. Singh strongly rebuked what he termed as deliberate misinformation by Congress leaders, emphasizing that military matters should transcend political boundaries. "Playing politics with our armed forces serves no one's interest," he stated firmly, while defending the government's military recruitment initiatives.
The minister's dual-rally appearances showcased the BJP government's commitment to both electoral reforms and military modernization, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's broader vision for India's future.
