In the lead-up to Haryana's upcoming election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are making big promises to voters. At campaign rallies on Sunday, September 29, 2024, top BJP officials outlined their plans for the state if they win.
Increased Health Coverage
BJP national president JP Nadda spoke at two rallies in Haryana. He made an important announcement about health care. Nadda said that if BJP wins, they will increase the coverage under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme. Right now, the scheme covers up to Rs 5 lakh per family. Nadda promised to raise this to Rs 10 lakh.
Nadda also shared another health care plan. He said the central government has decided to give Rs 5 lakh health coverage to everyone above 70 years old, no matter their background.
Jobs and Recruitment
Nayab Singh Saini, a key BJP leader in Haryana, made his own promises at a rally in Meham. He focused on government jobs. Saini said that if BJP forms the next government, they will start hiring for government jobs right away. He claimed that the Congress party had stopped the recruitment of about 25,000 young people. Saini promised to fix this and said that in the coming days, the BJP government would give jobs to two lakh youth in Haryana.
Criticism of Congress
Both Nadda and Saini used their speeches to criticize the Congress party, which ruled Haryana before BJP. Nadda talked about land scams during Congress rule. He said that big businessmen used to take land from farmers unfairly. He also claimed that people got jobs based on bribes and political connections under Congress.
The BJP leaders presented their party as a better choice. They said that both Haryana and India have made progress under BJP rule. Nadda pointed out that India is now the world's fifth-largest economy. He also mentioned that Narendra Modi has become Prime Minister for the third time.
As the election gets closer, these promises and claims will likely be big talking points. Voters in Haryana will have to decide if they believe these promises and if they want to give BJP another chance to lead their state.
