The Haryana Story brings you the latest update on the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The Congress party has made a bold move by announcing seven key guarantees for voters in Haryana. These promises were unveiled at a press conference in Delhi, attended by top party leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The seven guarantees, dubbed "Saat Vaade, Pakke Irade" (Seven Promises, Firm Intentions), cover a wide range of issues. One of the most significant promises is a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, addressing a long-standing demand in the agricultural sector. The party has also committed to conducting a caste survey and increasing the creamy layer limit from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Women's empowerment is another focus area, with the Congress promising gas cylinders for Rs 500 and a monthly payment of Rs 2,000 to women aged 18-60 years. The party has also pledged to strengthen social security by offering a Rs 6,000 monthly pension for the elderly, disabled, and widows, as well as reinstating the old pension scheme.
Other key promises include providing 300 units of free electricity and free medical treatment of up to Rs 25 lakh. The Congress is clearly aiming to appeal to a broad spectrum of voters with these welfare-oriented guarantees.
The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with vote counting to take place on October 8. As the campaign heats up, The Haryana Story will continue to bring you important updates and analysis of the political landscape in the state.
