The Haryana Story brings you an intriguing tale of family, politics, and ambition unfolding in Ambala. The upcoming Haryana Assembly elections have set the stage for an unusual contest between father and daughter, showcasing the complex dynamics of local politics.

A Family Divided by Politics

Congress leader Nirmal Singh, popularly known as "Pradhanji" in Ambala, has been given the party ticket to contest from Ambala City. However, his daughter, Chitra Sarwara, who was also hopeful for a ticket, has taken a rebellious stance by filing her nomination as an independent candidate from Ambala Cantt.

When questioned about his daughter's decision, Nirmal Singh distanced himself, stating, "She is married and it's her own decision." This response highlights the delicate balance politicians must maintain between family ties and party loyalty.

From AAP to Congress: A Recent Switch

Interestingly, both father and daughter had joined the Congress party just this January, after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Their return to Congress was facilitated by Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state president Udai Bhan. This recent party switch adds another layer of complexity to the current situation.

A History of Political Maneuvers

Nirmal Singh is no stranger to political shifts. He has been a four-time MLA from Ambala's Naggal seat on a Congress ticket. In 2019, when denied a ticket, he and Chitra left Congress to form their own party, contesting as independents but losing the election. They then joined AAP in 2022, with Chitra even becoming the state vice-president of AAP's Haryana unit. However, their stint with AAP was short-lived, reportedly due to disagreements over ticket distribution for the upcoming elections.

The Current Electoral Landscape

Now, with Nirmal Singh back in Congress and contesting from Ambala City, and Chitra Sarwara filing as an independent from Ambala Cantt, the local political scene has become a topic of intense discussion. This father-daughter electoral face-off has created a buzz in Ambala's political corridors, with everyone speculating about its potential impact on the election results.

As The Haryana Story continues to follow this developing situation, it's clear that this family drama turned political saga will be a key factor in the Ambala elections. The coming weeks will reveal how voters respond to this unique electoral contest and whether family ties or political allegiances will prevail.
