Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini filed his nomination papers for the Ladwa Assembly constituency on Tuesday. The event, far from being a simple paperwork exercise, turned into a show of strength for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
Saini's journey to the election office was nothing short of a spectacle. He led a roadshow through the streets of Ladwa, where supporters showered him with garlands and cheers. In a symbolic gesture that resonated with the state's agricultural roots, the Chief Minister chose to drive a tractor during part of the procession.
The nomination filing was a star-studded affair in BJP circles. Saini was accompanied by his wife Suman Saini, adding a personal touch to the political event. Also present were political heavyweights like Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal, underscoring the importance the party places on this election.
Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, Saini exuded confidence about the BJP's prospects. He announced that the party had already declared 67 candidates and would reveal the remaining 23 names later in the day. The Chief Minister didn't mince words when it came to the opposition, claiming that the Congress party was heading towards defeat in the upcoming polls.
Saini took the opportunity to highlight his government's achievements, stating that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the BJP had given Haryana a new direction. He contrasted his administration's "mission mode" of working with what he called the Congress's "commission mode," implying efficiency versus corruption.
The election machinery in Haryana is now in full swing. With voting scheduled for October 5 and results to be announced on October 8, candidates have until September 12 to file their nominations. As the BJP aims for a hat-trick of wins in the state, all eyes will be on Ladwa and how Saini's campaign unfolds in the coming weeks.
