In a surprising move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has significantly reshuffled its candidate lineup for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The party's second list, released on Tuesday, reveals some bold decisions that could reshape the political landscape in the state.
Two ministers from CM Nayab Singh Saini's government, Banwari Lal and Seema Trikha, have been dropped from their seats in Bawal and Badkhal respectively. They've been replaced by Krishna Kumar and Dhanesh Adlakha.
The changes don't stop there. Five sitting MLAs, including BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli, have also been denied tickets. In their place, the party has fielded a mix of new faces and experienced politicians.
In a notable move, the BJP has pitted Captain Yogesh Bairagi against Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat in the Julana constituency, setting up what could be one of the most watched contests in the election.
The party has also made efforts to reach out to minority communities, fielding two Muslim candidates - Naseem Ahmed in Nuh and Aizaz Ahmed in Punhana.
Interestingly, Haryana minister Sanjay Singh, who was earlier dropped from his Sohna seat, has found a new battleground in Nuh.
These changes suggest that the BJP is not taking any chances in Haryana. By introducing fresh faces and making strategic adjustments, the party seems to be aiming for a strong performance in the October 5 elections.
However, the decision to hold back on announcing candidates for three seats - Mahendragarh, Sirsa, and Faridabad (NIT) - hints at some unresolved internal discussions.
