Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP government during a "Meet the Press" event at the Press Club. Hooda accused the government of being "incompetent, useless, and unsuccessful" and criticized its tendency to take U-turns on decisions.

Unfulfilled Promises and New Announcements

Hooda challenged the BJP to account for its previous election promises before making new announcements. He raised several questions about unfulfilled commitments from 2014, including:

  1. Why wasn't the MSP guarantee given to farmers as promised?
  2. Why weren't rates provided according to the Swaminathan Report?
  3. Why didn't farmers' income double as promised?
  4. Why weren't government employees given salaries on par with Punjab?
  5. Why wasn't a medical college built in every district as promised?

The former CM also questioned the government's performance on key issues: - How did Haryana become number one in unemployment? - Why has Haryana become the most unsafe state in the country? - Why were 5000 schools closed? - Why are there 50,000 vacant posts in the education department? - Why are nearly 20,000 positions vacant in health services?

Vacant Government Posts and Unemployment

Hooda highlighted that over 2 lakh government posts are currently vacant in Haryana. He explained that this shortage of staff across departments causes inconvenience to the public and promotes corruption. The opposition leader promised that filling these vacant positions and controlling unemployment would be the top priority if Congress returns to power.

"Congress will make Haryana unemployment-free and crime-free again," Hooda declared. He added that eliminating unemployment and crime would help curb drug abuse, prevent migration, attract investment, and lead to the state's progress.

False Promises and Mismanagement

Hooda accused the BJP government of making false promises, particularly regarding land allocation. He claimed that the government is making "fake announcements" about 30-yard plots after taking away the right to 100-yard plots from poor, SC, and OBC communities.

"The government is collecting Rs 10,000 from poor people by giving them false hope about plots," Hooda alleged. He pointed out that no land has been identified, no demarcation has been done, and no map or infrastructure plans have been presented for these promised plots.

The former CM concluded by stating that the public would not be deceived by these false announcements anymore. He expressed confidence that the people of Haryana are ready for a change and that Congress would address the state's pressing issues upon returning to power.

This strong criticism from a senior opposition leader has put the spotlight on the BJP government's performance in Haryana. As the state moves closer to its next election, it remains to be seen how the ruling party will respond to these allegations and address the concerns raised by Hooda.
