Naveen Jindal, the scion of the influential Jindal family in India, is back in the political fray. Born on March 9, 1970, in Hisar, Haryana, he ventured into politics after establishing himself as a successful industrialist. Jindal's political journey is marked by his significant contributions in various capacities, including as a Member of Parliament (MP) and his active involvement in socio-economic development initiatives.

Jindal's foray into politics commenced in 2004 when he contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from the Kurukshetra constituency in Haryana. Not many Haryanvis are aware that one of the major highlights of Naveen Jindal’s public career before entering active politics was his fight for the Indian flag. In 1992, Naveen Jindal's fight for the Indian flag made headlines as he defied a government ban on private citizens hoisting the national flag. Jindal, then a student at the University of Texas at Dallas, was determined to raise the tricolor at the Indian consulate in New York City on India's Republic Day. His act was not just symbolic; it was a bold assertion of the rights of Indian citizens to proudly display their national emblem.

Despite facing legal repercussions, Jindal remained steadfast in his resolve, believing fervently in the importance of the flag as a symbol of national pride and unity. Jindal's defiance sparked a national debate and galvanized support for his cause. His actions ultimately led to the Supreme Court of India ruling in 2004 that all Indian citizens have the right to fly the national flag freely and with respect.

Cut to 2024, Naveen Jindal joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in March, after his long political innings in Congress. BJP realizing the importance of his long successful political career and attachment with the Dharm Nagri, fielded the Jindal scion from Kurukshetra. Since, the announcement of his name for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Jindal has been fiercely campaigning in Kurukshetra with the promise of “Viksit Kurukshetra, Viksit Rashtra”.

Notably, Kurukshetra is witnessing an interesting triangular battle between BJP’s Naveen Jindal, INLD’s Abhay Chautala, and AAP’s Sushil Gupta. Realising the gravity of the contest Jindal is regularly visiting the people of Kurukshetra. Recently, one video of Jindal also went viral in which he was seen loading wheat bags in Kurukshetra. The viral video shows Jindal loading bags full of wheat into a truck in the Radaur grain market of Yamunanagar district on April 17. The video of the same is still doing rounds on the internet.

In another set of recent viral pictures, Jindal was seen riding on the back seat of a bike with one of his old friends in the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency. Defying the skeptics who announced that Naveen Jindal one of the richest men in India, will not actively campaign on the ground, the industrialist turned politician is not only campaigning actively in the scorching summer of April-May but is also moving towards a resounding victory. With just 25 days left for voting, it will be interesting to see how one of the richest Indian and the 2004 Kurukshetra MP performs in the upcoming elections.
