TURMOIL IN HARYANA CONGRESS AS HIGH COMMAND ASSERTS AUTHORITY

The party faces challenges ahead of the polls amid internal discord.In the Haryana Congress, factionalism has intensified, prompting a stern response from the high command. The party's top leadership has taken a tough stand against leaders associated with both the SRK Group (led by Randeep Surjewala, Kumari Selja, and Kiran Choudhary) and the former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda Group.

Amidst complaints about exclusion from committees formed for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, tensions soared. The central leadership held a meeting with leaders from both factions, advising Kumari Selja to cut short her Congress Sandesh Yatra in Haryana, expressing concerns over the conflicting messages being sent. 

The meeting witnessed a heated exchange when SRK Group leaders confronted Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria about his alleged bias. The disagreement escalated, leading to a formal apology from Babaria, who acknowledged the miscommunication.Furthermore, the high command directed both factions to refrain from activities that might harm the party's interests in the state. With the Lok Sabha elections approaching and the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct imminent, the leadership emphasised the need for unity.

The SRK Group's complaint about their members being omitted from election committees was acknowledged seriously. The high command assured their inclusion in the revised committee list, but no specific timeline was provided.In an attempt to streamline the situation, the high command suggested abbreviating the ongoing Congress Sandesh Yatra in Haryana, emphasising the critical nature of the political landscape in the lead-up to the elections. Additionally, it was mandated that the campaign include photos of former CM Choudhary Uday Bhan to symbolise party unity. 

As the high command issued directives, the fate of the SRK Group's political rallies in Rohtak and Gurugram remained uncertain, with the possibility of cancellation. A key meeting scheduled in Delhi from January 30 to February 2 on election preparedness further underscores the urgency for a unified front.The episode highlights the challenges within the Haryana Congress, reflecting the larger dynamics of power struggle and preparation for the impending electoral battle.
