The Haryana Assembly witnessed intense political debate today as opposition parties launched a comprehensive critique of the Governor's Address, while the ruling BJP steadfastly defended its governance record and future vision for the state.
Former Speaker Ashok Arora, representing the Congress party, spearheaded the opposition's attack by highlighting the acute shortage of DAP fertilizer facing farmers. He particularly emphasized the harsh penalties, including FIRs and blacklisting on farm portals, imposed on farmers for stubble burning.
Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed from Nuh raised concerns about regional disparities, specifically pointing to the alleged neglect of the Mewat area in project implementation. "Several promised projects in Mewat remain unfulfilled years after their announcement," Ahmed stated during the assembly session.
The debate took a serious turn when Congress member Geeta Bhukkal criticized the government's recent notification on SC sub-classification for government jobs, describing it as a "divide and rule" strategy. This prompted an immediate rebuttal from Minister Krishan Bedi.
Supporting the government's position, BJP MLA Mool Chand Sharma from Ballabhgarh praised the administration's "no parchi, no kharchi" (no recommendation, no bribe) policy in government recruitment. "This transparent approach has transformed Haryana's previous reputation for favoritism in job appointments," Sharma explained.
INLD's representation through Rania MLA Arjun Chautala broadened the criticism to include concerns about healthcare services and rising crime rates, adding another dimension to the opposition's arguments.
The ruling party maintained that the Governor's Address presents a clear roadmap for achieving the goals of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) in Haryana, despite opposition claims to the contrary.
