As Haryana gets ready for its Assembly elections, the state's top election official, Pankaj Agarwal, has some important messages for political parties. Agarwal, who is the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), wants to make sure everyone follows the rules set by the Election Commission of India.
Agarwal said that all political parties must follow the model code of conduct. This is a set of rules that helps make sure elections are fair. He also told parties to be careful about where they put their campaign signs, like posters and banners. These should only go in places that the local election officer has approved. Parties can ask for permission online if they want to put up signs.
The CEO also talked about campaign materials like pamphlets. He said these must have the name and phone number of the printing press that made them. If they don't, both the printing press and the party or candidate could get in trouble.
Agarwal reminded everyone that they can report any rule-breaking using a special app called C-Vigil. If someone breaks the rules, they could face legal action.
Lastly, he warned parties to be careful when using social media. They should avoid spreading false information or rumors.
By following these rules, Agarwal hopes to ensure that Haryana's elections are fair and peaceful. He wants all parties to compete fairly and for voters to make their choices without any unfair influence.
