
The much awaited Delhi- Metro expansion to Sonipat is gaining momentum as the key stakeholders held a meeting at the Mini-Secretariat in Sonipat. DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor to Haryana Urban Development Authority, led discussions with Municipal Commissioner Harshit Kumar, SDM Subhash Chandra, and HMRTC Advisor SD Sharma to address crucial aspects of the project.
DMRC has requested updates regarding land-related challenges from NHAI and PWD for the Rithala-Nathupur metro extension. HMRTC has been directed to submit a comprehensive report detailing potential obstacles and land acquisition requirements, including government land availability.
A joint inspection scheduled for February 23 will mark a significant milestone in the project's progress. Officials will assess the proposed metro expansion site, paving the way for final decisions on implementation.
The expansion of the metro rail network will be a boon to the 50,000 daily commuters travelling to Delhi. The new Metro line will reduce the travel time by approximately 60% to key Delhi areas like Narela- Nangloi, Bawana and Najafgarh.
